The Challenge

Guernsey Electricity Limited (GE) is the sole commercial electricity supplier on the island of Guernsey, operating for over 100 years. The power station required additional cooling tower capacity to support ongoing generation operations.

Island logistics presented unique challenges for delivery, with all equipment needing to be transported by sea. The project also demanded fast turnaround to minimise impact on power generation capacity during the installation period.

The Solution

Vistech proposed four packaged EWK GRP cooling towers, selected for their fast delivery, rapid on-site assembly, and corrosion-resistant construction suited to the island’s coastal environment.

Vistech produced all drawings and technical documentation as required and maintained open communication throughout, readily accommodating changes and questions during the design stage. When other operational priorities within GE’s business required the timescales to be accelerated, Vistech adapted and delivered the project ahead of the revised completion date.

Following review of the proposal Vistech was selected based on proposed engineering solutions, ability to deliver within required time together with resources and experience. Vistech produced all drawings and technical documentation as required and were always available to discuss any changes or questions. During the design stage other operational situations within our business meant the timescales had to be altered and the project delivered to a quicker completion date and Vistech were able to support this and deliver the project ahead of schedule.
