We understand the unique needs of the distilleries sector having designed and installed cooling systems in some of the remotest areas across Scotland. Whether you have an existing system in need of redesign or refurbishment, or you are looking to install a brand-new system, you may wish to consider the following:
For distillery sites with available footprint, adiabatic coolers provide a great option for reducing water consumption. It’s possible to achieve as much as a 90% reduction in water consumption compared to a cooling tower delivering the same duty – ideal for distilleries with restricted access to water.
Our SMART range of towers and coolers reduce energy consumption using scheduling capabilities to only run the tower or adiabatic unit during set periods of the day. As a result, less energy is used, and lower noise levels are observed during your distillery’s off-peak hours.
Blend in with the natural surroundings
Many of our distillery clients reside in protected areas of outstanding natural beauty. With the option of colour selection on our GRP cooling towers and coolers, your system blends in with its natural surroundings. In addition, the adiabatic coolers emit no plume, greatly reducing its overall visual impact.
Minimal operating noise levels
Distilleries within proximity to residential areas should consider limiting operating noise by introducing sound attenuators to the cooling units. Vistech offers several discharge attenuator options to best suit your requirements. Our sales engineers can discuss this in depth at the design stage. It’s also possible to install attenuators retrospectively, on existing units.
Remote monitoring for peace of mind
We are used to working with distilleries in remote areas. We offer 24-hour monitoring for your peace of mind to ensure any issues are dealt with promptly and down time is kept to a minimum. You can also keep an eye on how your unit is continually performing with real time monitoring and monthly performance reports.
Corrosion resistant material
For coastal distilleries, we stress the importance of our Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) cooling units. All Vistech units are manufactured using this corrosion resistant material, significantly extending the life span of the units, compared to steel structures.
Intelligent design to increase longevity
Our Evaporative Panel Coolers are designed so that water does not contact the heat exchange surface/coil, limiting corrosion and increasing the longevity of your cooling unit.
Air Intake Screens
To minimise the introduction of biological contaminants such as pollen, insects and dust into your cooling system and distillery process.
Aerosol free design
Vistech’s evaporative panel design avoids spraying water so no aerosols are generated; you will therefore not be required to register your unit under the Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers (NCTEC) to the local authority or HSE.
Water treatment costs
There’s no need for an expensive water treatment regime with our adiabatic range as the water used is typically provided from a mains supply therefore neither retained or reused, making the risk of legionella negligible.
This is a recent refurbishment of steel towers in Oban, Scotland – including replacement Anti-Legionella Drift Eliminators & Pack, new sump immersion heater, replacement stainless steel fan silencers, replacement GRP handrail around the top of the tower. Zero to waste disposal of redundant materials.

Feedback from our clients
We contacted Jason as he had worked with another site within the group. Jason visited site and looked at the current set up and worked with us to improve the system. Once the system had been approved the new cooling tower was delivered quickly. The onsite project manager over looked the whole project from start to finish making the installation an easy one. The overall support from start to finish from Vistech is second to none and I would recommend them again.
The project was handled competently and given the criticality of service and complexity of the project, to a very high standard and with total focus on service availability. There were issues and occurrences that were unforeseen but Vistech reacted positively to the challenges and their response was always exemplary, whether the issue was financial, project delays or safety concerns.

Best reference would be that I didn’t even know you had been on site! All tools debris etc. cleared, quality of work exceptional.

GRP Lining and new access door installed, quality product and service – many thanks.
Vistech were not phased by the issue and employed a contractor to completely reline the tank internally at their own cost and saved the down time and costs of removing and replacing the tank. I can confidently recommend Vistech to carry out any works of a similar nature and found the company from director to operative a pleasure to work with.
D Hall, Works Manager
Excellent company to deal with, from sales to the lads who carried out the actual work, all very helpful.
Following review of the proposal Vistech was selected as the supplier based on the proposed engineering solutions, ability to deliver within a required time together with resources and experience.
Having been selected as the supplier Vistech produced all drawings and technical documentation as required and were always available to discuss any changes or questions as required. During the design stage of this project other operational situations within our business meant the timescales had to be altered and the project delivered to a quicker completion date and Vistech were able to support this and deliver the project ahead of schedule.
As the project entered the installation stage all the team from both Vistech and their subcontractors were extremely professional and the standards of work were excellent leading to the project being delivered ahead of schedule, without any injuries or incidents and delivering the performance detailed within the initial proposals.
In summary Vistech were a pleasure to work with on this project and delivered everything they promised they would do.

Just want to say a big thanks for the work the guys done here last week. I was away from site so I had cover to supervise the job, but I have only heard positive feedback from everyone on site here. A really good job from what we can tell now, so should have the tower up and running from Thursday.
